Welcome to the Victorian Young Liberal Movement | Print |

The Victorian Young Liberal Movement has a proud history of providing strong and decisive leadership in terms of policy development, political campaigning and support for Parliamentary Members.

As the youth wing of Australia’s most successful political party, we strive to be strong advocates of liberalism. We believe in individual freedom, free enterprise and small government.

We are also never forgetful of the fact that this great Movement was formed in Melbourne in 1945 by the great Sir Robert Menzies.

The Movement places a particularly strong emphasis on policy with the Movement’s peak policy-making body, Movement Council, meeting regularly.

In addition, the Young Liberal Movement aims to encourage members to participate not only in political aspects of the Liberal Party, but also in numerous social events.

We aim to provide a stimulating and enjoyable forum for a wide spectrum of like-minded individuals who subscribe to the basic philosophies of the Liberal Party and Liberalism.

Many members of the Movement have gone on to build successful careers both in the private and public sectors as well as in the Federal and State Parliament. Prominent former Victorian Young Liberals include the Hon Peter Costello MP, Sir Philip Lynch, the Hon Peter Reith, the Hon Andrew Peacock, the Hon Louise Asher MLA and the Hon Bruce Atkinson MLC (to name only a few).

We welcome new members, so if you want to be a part of our movement then join us! Send an email to the State President at and we’ll help get you started.
